March 22 - April 20, 2003
Set in the tumultuous heyday of social upheaval that was San Francisco in 1968 when California's Asian American intellectuals were first finding a political voice, Ibsen's Hedda becomes Gotanda's Eiko, a powerhouse of a woman trapped between two worlds and searching for self-definition.
A brilliant transplanting of a powerful classic, The Wind Cries Mary further explores Ibsen's timeless themes of power and gender politics set against the backdrop of rock 'n' roll and the Civil Rights movement.
A World Premiere.
